Auto Air Conditioning Heating Repair
Is not a mechanical specialty within the auto
repair field per say. Most auto mechanics and auto dealers can replace
you air conditioning compressor, recharge your Freon, and repair most
any problem with you AC / Heating system.
There are however advantages to going to someone
who specialized in auto air conditioning repair or replacement. Any car
mechanic who does a lot of auto air conditioning work may actually be
able to give you a better system and or save you money on a system that
is equivalent to the one on your vehicle already. You probably don’t
need a factory part although in some cases this is your best bet.
Auto dealers often, but not always, want to
replace or repair your system with genuine parts for your particular
make and model of car. This is a good but expensive way to bring your
AC system back online. It may in fact cost you double what another
non-dealer mechanic might charge. The parts are more expensive and
often, so is the labor.

A general auto mechanic may be able to replace or
repair your air conditioning system for you at a more reasonable
charge than a dealer but you may sacrifice having the best system or
the best installation for your vehicle because a general mechanic may
not have a complete working know-how for your particular vehicle. Did
you get the best parts you could get? Was the service done completely
by the specs for your vehicle? You may have saved some money but will
the system last more than a year or two?
The auto air conditioning heating repair
specialist may well be your answer if this person really does have a
more extensive knowledge about AC systems and does considerably more
repairs or replacement on your particular type of vehicle. He or she
probably buys more air conditioning units then your general mechanic
and probably has a better working knowledge in this field. Also,
because of a higher volume, he or she may be able to get you a better
deal on parts or the AC unit itself because they buy in volume. Even
if they are charging a higher price per hour it may cost less for
labor because it will take less time.
Because car AC units are expensive to repair or
replace it’s sometimes a hard choice to make when it comes to
repairs. The dealer may be too expensive, the local general mechanic
may do little work on auto AC units and you may end up unhappy because
you may have saved money but ended with a very poor quality AC unit
that doesn’t last.
No
matter who you use compare not only price but experience. Find out
what the guarantee is on the parts and labor. Find out what kind of AC
unit it is and compare it on line for reliability performance and
price as well. A little leg work on your part will save you a lot or
money and even more head aches. As with many other things a good
reference and shopping for the best product for your needs is the
answer.
